Cardholders who stay within their credit limit and pay on time will receive 100 bonus points per billing period and a potential reduction of their interest rate. APR reductions occur at a rate of .25% after 3 months in a row of making a purchase, staying within limit, and paying on time. Cardholders are eligible for a total of 8 reductions, for a 2% total reduction.
Bonus points are rewarded for other kind acts. Cardholders get 2,500 bonus points when they sign up for paperless statements within the first 3 months of their account opening, and 6,000 bonus points when they make their first $250 in purchases within the first 3 months.

Students who use this card correctly by staying within their credit limit and paying on time will receive 100 bonus points per billing period and a potential reduction of their interest rate. Students receive a reduction of .25% when they make a purchase, stay within their credit limit, and pay on time for three months in a row. Cardholders are eligible for eight reduction, or up to a 2% total reduction.

The Citi® mtvU™ Platinum Select® Visa® Card for College Students, issued by Citibank, is a credit card designed specifically for students and offers a unique reward program that awards students for using credit wisely and for receiving good grades.
Through the reward program, cardholders earn one point for general purchases and five points for every dollar spent at restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters, and video rentals. The program also awards 25 points when payments are made on time and spending does not surpass the credit limit. Twice per year, anywhere between 250 and 2,000 points may be awarded dependent on the student's GPA (beginning at 2.5). These points can be redeemed for gift cards, CDs, a VIP mtvU Spring Break Pass, tickets to the MTV Video Music Awards, and airline tickets.
